Mission and Vision

Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor believes and follows the Word of God (the Bible); which leads us to worship God and glorify our Heavenly Father; to embrace and follow the life of Christ who is our Lord and Savior and to be filled with the Holy Spirit who sanctifies the believer and leads them into all truth!

Jesus calls every believer to go out and make disciples fulfilling “The Great Commission!”

Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor has over 35 ministries operating to fulfill “The Great Commission” from children’s discipleship programs to adult training, our goal is to reach out locally and globally, preaching and teaching the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

 Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

How do we do this? Paul, the Apostle, challenges all believers to fulfill “The Great Commission” with four questions in Romans 10:14-15:

(1) How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?

(2) And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?

(3) And how shall they hear without a preacher?

(4) And how shall they preach unless they are sent?

> Let’s answer and apply these four questions to our lives and the church:

Question #1: How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?

 > ANSWER:  The lost cannot call on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved until they BELIEVE!

Lost souls are BLINDED, Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 4:3-6 - But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god (Satan) of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said in Matthew 4:18-20 - And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."  They immediately left their nets and followed Him.  Soul-winners are made, not born!

To be a soul-winner every Christian must trust in the POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRITJesus said in John 15:26-27 - "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of MeAnd you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning."

Jesus said in Acts 1:8 - "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Every believer must PRAY to be an effective witness; you must be taught, trained, and motivated by the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God!

> The POWER TO WITNESS is found in ACTS chapter 2; what’s the message:

     (1) CHRIST was CRUCIFIED for our sins according to the Scriptures;

     (2) And He rose again according to the Scriptures (the RESURRECTION);

     (3) Sinners are called to REPENT of their sins, BELIEVE in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation and RECEIVE the gift of the

    HOLY SPIRIT according to the Scriptures (“You must be BORN AGAIN!” (John 3:3-5)).

Question #2: How shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?

> ANSWER: The lost cannot believe in Him until they HEAR the GOSPEL, the GOOD NEWS of SALVATION!

  1. The eunuch had to hear to believe (Acts 8:26-39)
  2. Paul had to hear to believe (Acts 9:1-18)
  3. Cornelius had to hear to believe (Acts 10:1-48)
  4. The Philippian jailor had to hear to believe (Acts 16:25-40)

Question #3: How shall they hear without a preacher (a witness)?

> ANSWER: They cannot hear the good news of salvation without a WITNESS!

- New Testament examples:

  1. Three thousand souls were saved at Pentecost because the 120 witnessed!
  2. The eunuch was saved because Philip witnessed!
  3. Paul was saved because Stephen witnessed!
  4. Cornelius and his household were saved because Peter witnessed!
  5. The Philippian jailer and his household were saved because Paul and Silas witnessed!
  6. You are SAVED because someone witnessed to you!

Question #4:  And how shall they preach unless they are sent?

> ANSWER:  The Church must TEACH, PRAY, EQUIP AND SEND! (In a word “DISCIPLE!”)

~ TEACH! - Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.  But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.

~ PRAY! - Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." (Matthew 9:35-38)

First, PRAY that you will be a laborer in the harvest field!

Second, PRAY that our Lord will raise up an army of SOUL-WINNERS throughout the world!

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me;

and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God,

who loved me and gave Himself for me.

(Galatians 2:20-21)

~ EQUIP! - Paul writes in Ephesians 4:11-16 - And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head — Christ — from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

Christians must grow in the faith, get equipped in the faith, then take a step of faith, by putting our faith to work in the body of Christ, whereas, Jesus will respond “Well done, good and faithful servant . . . enter in the joy of the Lord!” (Matthew 25:21)

~ SEND! - Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20 – GO therefore and make disciples of ALL THE NATIONS, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

  The word “GO” is found 1,487 times in the Bible!

Jesus also said in Mark 16:15-16 - "GO into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”

“Let’s Go for God!”
